Neal Greig was born in Belfast in 1965. He studied Fine Art at Edinburgh College of Art, and was awarded The Andrew Grant Scholarship for his post graduate study.
Neal has exhibited extensively throughout Ireland and has undertaken numerous prestigious international residencies. He has previously been the Artist in Residence at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, and in 2011 received the Pollock Krasner Award from the Foundation in New York. Neal was elected to the Royal Ulster Academy in in 2018.
‘Through The Floody Pines’ is part of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s collection. The painting was inspired by a visit to the Cairngorms National Park in June 2019. It beautifully captures the light and shade falling on the trees, and their reflections in the still flood water below.
