Tracey Quinn is from Lisburn, and currently lives and works in Dublin. She has studied fine art both in Leicester, and at the L’Institute D’Art Visuel, Orleans, France.
Tracey’s primary inspiration is the Irish landscape. Rather than recreating a literal translation, she uses simplification of form and loose brush work of oil on canvas in order to create an atmosphere or impression of the light and colour produced by the ever-changing skies.
Aran Autumn Sky is part of the collection of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. The painting was inspired by a visit to Inis Meáin, one of the Aran Islands. The work attempts to capture the constantly changing pattern of colours in the sky, juxtaposed against cold starkness of the exposed and tree-less rock.
