SIAP2016 in Focus: General Arts Awards
Friday 29th July 2016 at 9am
General Arts Awards offer artists funding of up to £3,000 for specific projects, specialised research, personal artistic development and certain materials/equipment.
These awards are open to artists of all disciplines and in all types of working practice.
The Arts Council encourages collaborative practice and invites applications from individual artists working together in cross-discipline projects. One application is required and the artistic practice of each artist involved in the collaboration must be adequately detailed. Applications for single discipline collaborative projects will not be accepted.
Photographer Alberto Maserin received a General Arts Award in support of his project ‘Interferences’ which was showcased during the Paris Photo festival. Speaking about the impact of receiving General Arts Awards from the Arts Council, Alberto said;
"The General Arts Award greatly facilitated the production of this project as well as helping to enhance and develop my photographic practice.
As an emerging artist, my career has been improved by the confidence gained from completing this long-term project and promoting it on international scale."
Applications for General Arts Awards should be submitted as part of the Support for the Individual Artist Programme not later than 4pm on Thursday 25th August. Full terms and guidance notes are now available along with the application form at http://artscouncil-ni.org/funding/scheme/support-for-the-individual-artist-programme
