Interview with Brian Walker Chairman of the Arts Council For Wee Can Magazine

1. Could you tell me a bit about where you were born and raised, where you live now and your previous work background.

I was born in Belfast in 1947 where I now live. I spent my early years outside Downpatrick and then in Ballynahinch before moving to Knockbreda. I received my history degree from Trinity College Dublin and was a lecturer for many years in the Politics Department at Queen’s before becoming Director of its Institute of Irish Studies.

INDEPENDENT EXPERTS TO REVIEW FIVE-YEAR ARTS STRATEGY

Arts Council initiative welcomed by Minister

 

The Arts Council this morning announced an independent review of its five-year strategy, To The Millennium, which has directed its policy since 1995. The Arts Minister, Michael McGimpsey MLA, welcomed the review: "This will be a key element in a wider process to map out the future strategic direction for the development of the arts in Northern Ireland", he said.
