£1.5 million Arts Council National Lottery funding awarded to local projects

50 arts organisations across Northern Ireland are set to benefit from over £1.5 million of Arts Council of Northern Ireland National Lottery funding, to bring a series of high quality arts projects to people across the region

The funding will be used by groups to support the development and creation of events, exhibitions, performances and workshops across all areas of the arts, including community arts, literature, visual arts, music and theatre.

Roisin McDonough, Chief Executive of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, said,  “We are pleased to announce today that we are investing £1.5 million of National Lottery funding into local arts organisations who, over the next year, will deliver a diverse programme of high-quality activities and events to communities across Northern Ireland.

“Lottery funding has contributed vastly to the socio-economic and cultural growth of Northern Ireland and allows the Arts Council to support organisations that are bringing arts programming to all. This year’s awardees are no exception and there will be much to look forward to over the coming months.”

Among those to receive awards today are:

  • Londonderry-based theatre company Stage Beyond are set to receive £30,000 to deliver a vibrant music, drama and dance programme to  children, young people and adults with special needs
  • Outburst Arts Festival has been offered a grant of £40,000 to deliver the 11th edition of Outburst Queer Arts Festival, the annual showcase celebration of LGBTQ arts in Belfast
  • Booktrust Northern Ireland has been awarded £22,180 to host visits by six high-profile authors to meet over 1,000 pupils across the region
  • Strand Arts Centre in East Belfast has been awarded £55,000 to deliver a year-round programme of community events
  • Newry Chamber Music will present a series of concerts with funding of £34,983
  • Sliabh Beagh Development Association in Fermanagh has been offered £61,050 to provide a series of rural community arts workshops
