The Arts Council of Northern Ireland today announced the allocation of awards totalling £2.47 million through three Arts Council National Lottery Fund Programmes.
- £1.2 million is shared between 23 arts organisations across Northern Ireland through the Arts Council’s Access to the Arts programme, designed to create the opportunity for everyone to participate in the arts
- £900,000 goes to ten arts organisations across Northern Ireland through the Audience Development programme, to introduce new audiences to the arts
-
Twelve arts organisations across Northern Ireland benefit from more than £340,000 awarded through the New Work programme for projects that take new work to people throughout Northern Ireland
HIGHLIGHTS

- £104,430 for Portadown’s All Set Schools Project cross-cultural dance & music programme
- Goldsmith In Residence scheme at the Ulster Museum receives £13,118
- £11,530 for new public art work in Dungannon

Ms Roisín McDonough, Chief Executive of the Arts Council, said:
"The exceptional level of interest in these Lottery programmes is testament to the sector’s willingness to embrace the range of strategic priorities identified in the Arts Council’s five-year Arts Plan. The projects highlight the remarkable variety of ways in which the arts can enrich people’s lives. Their quality is such that they will make real headway into broadening the appeal of the arts for new audiences throughout Northern Ireland."
Applications for the three programmes closed at the end of July 2002. The Arts Council intends to announce the re-launch the programmes at the beginning of the new year, with funding coming onstream for the new financial year.
