The Arts Council has responded to the review of arm’s-length bodies currently being undertaken by the Department for Communities (DfC).
The Department for Communities is reviewing the number and function of its arm’s-length bodies with a view to ‘reducing their number, where possible, and maximising the available revenues’. In January 2017, the Minister for Communities indicated his intention that the review would continue, despite the current political uncertainty. Arm’s-length bodies must meet at least one of ‘Three Tests’ in order to remain at arm’s-length from government.
