Anna Cheyne Visual Art Award 2017 winners announced
The winners of the 8th Anna Cheyne Visual Art Award were announced at the exhibition preview at ISLAND Arts Centre on Wednesday 13 September, supported by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council.
The winning pieces were a pair of intricate graphite pencil drawings ‘Ballinglen Lichens’ by Michael Geddis and an oil on paper entitled ‘Midnight’ by Anushiya Sundaralingam. Judges for the award were Joanna Johnston, Visual Arts Officer, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Anne Stewart, Curator of Fine Art at National Museums NI.
Joanna Johnston, Visual Arts Development Officer, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, added,
“Congratulations to both Michael Geddis and Anushiya Sundaralingam on winning the Anna Cheyne Visual Art Award given in recognition of the talent shown in their artwork. I would encourage everyone to go along and view the exhibition at the Island Arts Centre which features a range of the terrific work submitted for the award.”
An exhibition of a selection of award entries can be viewed at ISLAND Arts Centre until Thursday 12 October.
