Minister launches Ulster-Scot Lambeg book

Nelson McCausland, Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure, is pictured with the Arts Council’s Damian Smyth, Head of Drama and Literature, at the launch of a new booklet that highlights the processes and skills involved in making one of Northern Ireland’s most iconic instruments, the Lambeg drum. The book, entitled ‘The Ulster Scot Lambeg- Creating Ulster’s Unique Traditional Instrument’, is published by the Ulster Scots Community Network with funding from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Final call for funding applications for individual artists

Local artists requiring help and support to develop their talents have until Thursday 27th August 2009 to apply for funding under the Arts Council’s Support for Individual Artists Programme (SIAP).


Applications to the scheme, which offers tailored support packages for artists across a variety of disciplines, can be submitted online here. Up to 20% of awards go to emerging artists.

New Artworks Revealed in Seymour Hill
