Credit Crunch Conference for the Arts

Delegates at the Audiences NI annual conference, 5th February at the Braid Arts Centre Ballymena will be welcomed to the afternoon session by Rosemary Kelly, Chairman of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. The conference theme ‘No Cost - Low cost’ will be explored with experts covering digital marketing tools, including mobile phone marketing and social networking websites. A free ‘Social Networking Bus’ will be available for delegates, to and from the Conference venue and Belfast.

Arts Council funding Helps Re-image Limavady

Two exciting, colourful murals at Dun Breffni House, Romell Road, will be unveiled (January 23rd) as the Mayor of Limavady, Cllr Brenda Chivers, along with Ann Ward, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, and members of the local community celebrate their Re-Imaging Project. The new work depicts a time-line for Limavady, past and future, and a ‘fantasy woodland’ complete with a chocolate river and cake mountains!

Arts Council Congratulates Arts and Business Award Winners

Eight categories, for imaginative, creative ‘Arts and Business’ partnerships, were celebrated at the Allianz Arts and Business NI Awards, Thursday 15 January, during a champagne reception, at the Reform Club in Belfast. The winning partnerships explore a range of arts/business collaborations and were chosen by an independent panel of judges.

Creative Industries Innovation Fund

Any Creative Business in Northern Ireland can now apply to the Creative Industries Innovation Fund, administered through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. There are three levels of funding for different types of project: up to £10,000, up to £50,000 and up to £75,000. Applications to the Fund, Launched in October 08, can be made by sole traders, partnerships, businesses incorporated as companies or sectoral bodies.

Arts Council funding Helps Re-generate New Mossley

A range of creative, community art works reflecting local landmarks and history will be unveiled throughout New Mossley, January 17th, as Dawn Purvis, MLA, and members of the community celebrate the New Mossley Re-Imaging Project, funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.


£16,590, part of the Arts Council’s £3 million Re-imaging Communities Programme (on behalf of the Shared Communities Consortium), was awarded to the New Mossley Community Group for the ‘New Image, New Mossley Project’ in June 2008.

Arts Council is Instrumental in Community Music

A recent analysis of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland ‘Instruments for Bands Funding Programme’ has shown that all areas of Northern Ireland are benefitting from an increase in the quality of community music-making. The programme helps bands to replace worn-out instruments and purchase new ones.
