NI based creative production company Dumbworld shortlisted for prestigious International Arts award

The Ellen Stewart International Award is awarded to an individual theatre artist or theatre company whose work has had a significant and outstanding impact on bringing about social change and enhancing community participation particularly in relation to young people.

The award acknowledges artistic excellence and innovation and Dumbworld is one of 11 international artists/ companies selected by an International Executive Committee from hundreds of nominated practitioners and companies from around the world. .

With the support of the ITI (International Theatre Institute), La MaMa New York and Italy, and the Spoleto Festival of 2 Worlds, the recipient of The Ellen Stewart International will attend the ITI World Congress, embark on an artistic residency at La MaMa Umbria and receive financial and production support to create and present a significant new work at the Spoleto Festival of 2 Worlds.

11 artists/ companies have been nominated by an International Executive Committee and the winner will be announced at a special ceremony on March 9, 2017, at La MaMa Theatre in New York.
