Newry, Mourne and Down District Council are pleased to announce that applications are now open for a six month Artist-in-Residence Programme based at Down Arts Centre, available to artists resident in the District Council area with a fee of £15,000.
This initiative is focused on strengthening the arts in our Council and providing our citizens with access to a high level of visual, contemporary arts experiences.
We’re looking to support visual artists in their careers and creating new work celebrating our district’s culture and engaging with our community.

About the Organisation
The residency is based at the artists studio at Down Arts Centre. Down Arts Centre, formerly Downpatrick Town Hall, was designed by William Batt and built in 1882.
Down Arts Service provides a dynamic cultural programme of activities throughout the year, including Theatre, Music, Workshops, Exhibitions and engaging learning opportunities. We facilitate and encourage arts activities of high quality designed to enhance the lives of residents of and visitors to the district.
