‘Chansey the Chicken and the Plum Tree’, a unique new local children’s book will be launched on Saturday 6 December in the Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen.

The book, written by local teacher John Conlon from Co. Fermanagh is set to become a firm favourite with local children as they travel on a journey with Chansey who has set her sights on a prize she feels is worth a risk!

As young readers and families take a ‘chance’ on this wonderful new tale, they will meet Chansey and her friends. Readers, younger and older are sure to engage with Chansey’s fascinating mixture of curiosity and confidence, which result in an adventure many children will love. John, the author, was inspired to penn his story about the chicken, after watching her one afternoon while he was studying for an exam. As John worked, Chansey had wandered over to him. He thought she was taking an interest and showing support, but once he realised that she was actually there to watch the plum tree, his story began!

‘Chansey the Chicken and the Plum Tree’ will be published by local children’s book publisher, Emain Publications and is supported by the Creative Industries Innovation Fund through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the Department for Culture, Arts and Leisure.
