6th May, 2026

Daniel Coleman is our Artist of the Month for May 2026.

The Window at the End of the Hall by Daniel Coleman.

Daniel Coleman was born in Armagh and graduated with First Class honours in Fine Art Painting from the Belfast School of Art in 2016. His work explores the impermanence of life and the significance of the everyday, and it is steeped in symbolism and meaning in relation to his rural Irish upbringing. A studio holder at Queen Street Studios, Daniel was the recipient of The Hennessy Craig Award in 2026. In addition to his own practice as an Artist, he is a Teacher of Art & Design, Media, Moving Image Arts and Special Education Needs.

‘The Window at the End of the Hall’ is a new acquisition for 2025/26 and is part of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland art collection. The painting was part of Daniel’s 2023 solo exhibition, ‘Shadows On The Wall’, a series of paintings that explored the intersection of place and the personal, drawing deeply from memory and the passage of time to reflect on the quiet significance of everyday experience.
