Now in its eighth year, this year’s two-day fringe festival will include a poetry slam, music and movement workshops for kids, and a very special closing concert, headlined by Huartan. Relative newcomers to the music scene, Huartan’s Stiofan Ó Luachráin, Caitríona Ní Ghribín agus Múlú (Miadhluaghan O’Donnell) have taken sean-nós songs and remixed them to create a magical electronic show that has earned them bookings at festivals all over the country this summer.

Visitors to this year’s Belfast Mela will also have a chance to experience the joy of Liú Lúnasa, in the Gaeltacht Tent, with a display of traditional music, literature, céilí dancing and more.

Gráinne Ní Ghilín, Director of Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich stated,

"We cannot wait to welcome everyone to the Liú Lúnasa festival in the Cultúrlann and at the Gaeltacht Tent in Botanic Gardens during Belfast Mela. It's the perfect way to bring a summer of festivals and fun to a close before we step into an amazing programme of events in autumn. We extend huge thanks to our principal funder, the Arts Council, and to all our funders for their unwavering support.”

Róisín McDonough, Chief Executive of Arts Council Northern Ireland,

“This season has seen the welcome return of the familiar creative programme of live music sessions, exhibitions and arts classes at the Cultúrlann. Still to come, is the highly anticipated Liú Lúnasa festival. As principal funder, through our National Lottery funds, the Arts Council is proud to support the Cultúrlann as it continues to inspire, entertain and uplift people, in the ways only the arts can.”
