The Arts Council has learned with regret of the passing of actor Peter Ballance.

Peter was a familiar face on the Northern Ireland stage from the 1990s onwards, featuring in landmark shows including Christina Reid’s ‘Joyriders’ and ‘Language Roulette’ by Darragh Carville.

His work in Tinderbox’s ‘Caught Red Handed’ was well received, as was his appearance in the Martin Lynch drama ‘Pictures of Tomorrow’. He also generously shared his industry knowledge as a valued board member of Prime Cut Productions and a teacher of Performing Arts at Southern Regional College.

On screen, Peter appeared in two films with Ciarán Hinds – ‘Titanic Town’ and ‘My Mother and Other Strangers’ – and featured as Farlen in two episodes of the globally successful TV series, ‘Game of Thrones’.

Our thoughts are with Peter’s family, friends and colleagues.
