The Cultural Bridge programme announces two further years of funding intercultural exchange between Germany and the UK, applications for 2025 - 2026 will open this October.

Cultural Bridge supports arts and cultural organisations across the UK and Germany to develop partnerships that explore social arts practice.

In 2024 The MAC will exhibit The Shake by artist and activist Khaled Barakeh who is the founder of coculture e.V. (Berlin, Germany). This project has been developed as an outcome of Weaving the Present Shaping the Future developed by Khaled Barakeh and led by the MAC and coculture with Cultural Bridge tier one support.

By enabling new and existing connections, Cultural Bridge supports a growing network of organisations committed to sharing expertise and skills, exchanging ideas and collaborating on artistic practices and projects that explore themes and issues faced by communities across both countries.

Through co-investment from Arts Council England, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, British Council, Creative Scotland, Fonds Soziokultur, Goethe-Institut London and Wales Arts International / Arts Council of Wales, Cultural Bridge has so far supported 35 partnerships through 42 awards, across three rounds of funding since its pilot year in 2021.

The application portal for the 2025-2026 Cultural Bridge programme will be open from Tuesday 15th October - Tuesday 26th November 2024.

Funding guidance is available now, organisations are encouraged to develop their collaboration and project proposals ahead of the application window. Find out more at
